Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and with the upmost safety concerns for all those involved in our game, the WHSFL has made the extremely tough and emotional decision to postpone its 2020 fall season.

“I’m at loss for words," stated Commissioner Jeffrey Bannon. "I, like so many, love this game, value it’s teachings and the fellowship, however this game has also taught us how to battle through adversity and become better for the challenge."

The WHSFL will continue to work with Football Manitoba, the MHSAA and all participating school divisions/districts under the direction of Manitoba Health with the goal of providing our athletes the opportunity to compete in a 2021 spring season, should we be able to to so safely.

At this time, the goal of the WHSFL is to look at how the league can support programming and opportunities such as flag/touch football for our athletes, so that they can be physically active while developing their football abilities and advancing towards their post-secondary goals.

The WHSFL has been part of the fabric of high school sports in Manitoba and North West Ontario since 1933. This is the first time since 1953 (polio pandemic) that the season has been interrupted.
