Last season, head coach Grant McMillan and the St. John's Tigers snapped a 38-year championship drought by bringing home the Division 3 title.

The success the team had has resulted in them moving up to Division 2 this season, and while some key pieces such as the division's most outstanding player Asher Wood, as well as Jaron Yakimishyn and Ryu Forsythe will not be back, there are still a variety of playmakers to choose from.

Offensively, the team has an absolutely massive offensive line that will be key in providing holes for two promising backs in Jacob Mpoyo and U16 provincial team member Josh Farber, who enters grade nine.

Defensively, linebackers Jerico Laurea and Riley Mercer, as well as defensive back Micah Humberstone are athletes to watch out for.

On defence, our strength will be our front seven," McMillan says.  "We have some good size on our d-line and a very strong linebacking core.

Laurea in particular, should be in for a solid 2019 campaign.

"[Laurea] has received no notice and recognition because we have played in division three. He will definitely turns a lot of heads and make a name for himself in division two."
