Isaac Dokken recently committed to the Manitoba Bisons.

It's been ten years since Jamie Peters co-founded the Steinbach Sabres program. A lot has happened since then. The team has won both the Division 3 and 2 championships and are hungry to capture the Division 1 crown as well.

Under the leadership of Stephen Fedus, who came to the program right around the time that they transitioned to the Division 1 level a few years back, the squad has increased their win total every year and were ranked number four in the inaugural pre-season coaches poll.

"Sabres football has been steadily improving since making the move into division 1 in 2017," Fedus says.

"The 2019 Sabres team strives to improve each week and is confident that hard work will lead to increased success in the win column this year. The Sabres are still looking for their first playoff win in division 1 football, 2019 is the year this will happen."

Offensively, the Sabres will take advantage of the skillset of junior quarterback Sawyer Thiessen, who's fresh off a summer where he started for the U18 provincial team and helped lead them to a 2-1 finish.

He'll have plenty of weapons to utilize in the air show, including fellow provincial team member Jayden Martens as well as Payton Falk, Austin Dueck and Avery Penner.

The defence is anchored by recent Manitoba Bisons commit Isaac Dokken at linebacker. A member of Team Canada at both the U16 and U18 level, he has tremendous athleticism and will also be a game-changer at running back. He'll be aided by fellow linebacker Jayden Pozniak and defensive end Thomas Peters.
