With 12 total starters back from a year ago, the Maples Marauders and tenth-year head coach Peter Serrette (25th year with the program) are gearing up for what should be a successful 2019 season in Division 3.

Maples' defence will be key to the team's success this year, with Serrette and company planning to mix up coverages and pressure quarterbacks with several blitz packages.

"The Maples defence will create turnovers and leave the offence with short fields," the bench boss says.

"With our returning players leading the way we will be the hardest working team on the field."

Pacing the squad is senior defensive back Adamo Urciuoli, a "great athlete" who will go both ways for the Marauders in 2019. He's fresh off a summer where he repped his nation at the All Canada Bowl while also winning the Thunder Bowl as part of the Prospects Program.

Defensive back/receiver/returner Riley McKee and running back/linebacker Aaron Gosselin are two other two-way players that Serrette expects to have big 2019 campaigns.

Additionally, power back Mason Jesmer "likes to be the hammer and not the nail," while the Marauders' linemen are loaded with athleticism and power and include Tevonne Albert and Jesse Valiquette.
