Under third-year head coach Donald Burrell, the Portage Trojans have quickly cemented themselves as a consistent Division 2 contender, as evidenced by last year's trip to the semi-finals.

The 2019 season should be no different, as PCI returns nine starters on offence and eight on defence.

"In this up coming 2019 football season, the Portage Collegiate Trojans football team's biggest strength on offence, should be our offensive line," Burrell says. "Running behind that offensive line will be the 2018 rookie of the year at tailback Kaiden Banfield."

One of the critical hoggies protecting Banfield and new signal caller Ian McCutchin is Team Manitoba U18 member Carter Little, a ferocious left tackle who will go both ways for PCI and is the heart and soul of the squad.

Fellow U18 member Mason Wieringa is another player to watch for on defence at the middle linebacker position, while physical U16 member Jacob Younka also adds depth to a LB corps that should wreak havoc in 2019.
