Tyrone Crook will be key to controlling the line of scrimmage for the Hornets

With 15 returning starters back from 2018, the Tec Voc Hornets and head coach Brian Weiser look to be in good shape heading into Division 3 competition.

"The strength of the 2019 version of the Tec Voc Hornets will be based on the play our seniors occupying key positions in our rosters," Weiser, a 17-year veteran of the program says.

"Our seniors have developed through our JV program and now it is their time to rise to the occasion and lead our team."

The defensive side of the ball will be anchored by grade 12's such as defensive back Riley Laurent and linebacker Riley Santos, while the offensive side of the ball sees plenty of talent, especially at the running back position with seniors John May and David San Juan. May will also see reps as a slotback while San Juan doubles as a linebacker.

But the true heart and sole of the team can be found on the offensive line in senior tackle Tyrone Crook, a four-year member of the program.

"Since he arrived at Tec, Tyrone has been a coach's dream.  He is a leader both on and off the field and has a high level of compete," Weiser says.

"After the 2017 season, Tyrone participated in Football Manitoba's Prospect Program to further develop his skills and abilities.  That initiative paid off as he applied what he learned to be able to carve out an offensive lineman position on the 2019 Under-18 provincial team.

Going into his senior year at Tec Voc, Tyrone is hoping to take the last two years of experience at the provincial team level to guide his team to a league championship."
