SOCCER is his main sport, but Tyson Farago has kicked his way into the Winnipeg High School Football League record books.
Farago, 17, booted five field goals to set a league record for most field goals in a game during Kelvin's 38-0 defeat of the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes on Oct. 2.
"It feels pretty good and kind of unexpected," said Farago, who broke the previous record of four, held by two former players, Dennis Markovic of Sisler (Oct. 3, 1997) and David Kloponski of St. Paul's (Aug. 29, 2002).
"After the game, my coach (Jon Romu) said, 'Five field goals -- I'll go look it up.' So I went home and I looked it up too, and when I found it on the league's website, I was like, 'Yay, I got five!' It feels good to have my name in there -- for a long time, hopefully!"

Farago, who also alternates between the defensive positions of linebacker and safety, spoke in a telephone interview from Newfoundland, where he is competing in the 2008 BMO National Men's Senior Challenge Cup in soccer as a goalkeeper with Hellas, which is representing Manitoba.
Farago kicked field goals of 35, 28, 30, 22 and 42 yards in the Kelvin-Miles Mac game and said he had a 52-yard attempt blown wide right by the wind after making the distance.
"In soccer, I'm used to kicking the ball a long way," he said. "I want to take soccer as far as I can go, but I'm really enjoying football as well."
Farago was named the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association's Home Run Sports Winnipeg high school athlete of the week for his accomplishment.
In that game he also kicked three converts, and on defence he had two tackles.
He is third overall in tackles in the Potter Division with 23, just behind his brother Colton, a defensive back with 38 tackles.
In St. John's, N.L., Farago and Hellas lost 1-0 to Halifax City Coldwell Banker of Nova Scotia. They meet Saskatchewan today.
